    The field of diabetes technology has advanced rapidly over recent years and we now have innovative devices and systems for monitoringand caring for people with diabetes admitted to the hospital. In recognition, Diabetes Technology Society, under the auspices of the

 

    European Association for the Study of Diabetes, brings you the 2011 International Hospital Diabetes Meeting. In Barcelona,clinicians, diabetes teams, academics, scientists, and industry leaders will be discussing the optimal use of current and futuretechnologies for people with diabetes admitted to hospitals. We will also be providing practical guidance for busy clinicians in keyareas including the diabetic foot, acute coronary syndrome, stroke, and many more.

 

    We are particularly delighted that two world authorities in diabetes care,Dr. Greet Van den Berghe from Belgium andDr. Signe Sorensen Torekov from Denmark, will be joining us for this  important meeting.In-hospital care is an important area and,fortunately, we have modern technologies that can reduce the burden for people with diabetes and their hospital diabetes teams. In the future, technology is going to have an even greater role in helping us provide the best and safest care for our patients  in every hospital and in every country.
